Two members of the Red Command fled the Ahmenon Lemos Industrial Rehabilitation Center in Várzea Grande (MT), and met a criminal policeman at a Cuiabá steakhouse before escaping for good.
Gilmar Reis da Silva, known as Vovozona, and Thiago Augusto Falcão de Oliveira had the help of agent Léo Márcio da Silva Santos to flee in 2023. The trio was the target of Operation Shadow, launched by the Civil Police on Monday (14), and two women who were at lunch supported the escape scheme of prisoners.
According to the investigation, the escape plan, on July 14, 2023, was assisted by two criminal police officers who worked in the penitentiary and people outside the prison unit. Planning also had illegal output signatures, vehicle exchanges, intentional delay and omission of information in the escape communication to the authorities.
The operation triggered on Monday fulfilled 35 court orders against the Red Command by the escape of leader Gilmar and Thiago. The two criminal police are investigated for crimes of facilitating legally arrested and integration of criminal organization.
Escape Dynamics
The Civil Police learned that, on the day of the escape, there was an atypical movement in the penitentiary, when Thiago and the police officer Adão Elias Junior, who was director of the institution at the time, found themselves in an uncted room, where police believe that the agreement of the two detainees was signed and signed.
Gilmar, who is considered highly dangerous and is one of the leaders of the Red Command, would not be allowed to leave the prison unit, but, with the signed authorization, hid behind a wall where prisoners work extramuro. He then entered a F-23 pickup truck of the penitentiary system itself.
The vehicle was driven by police officer Léo Márcio, with both facted, and was presenting mechanical problems on the day of the case. On the way, it was decided that they would change the car. They sought a Toyota Hilux pickup truck that belongs to Gilmar.
The exchange occurred for the prison system truck to be taken to the workshop and still had a vehicle to perform the prison unit’s work in the afternoon and thus mislead the escape.
The criminals sought the Hilux pickup truck at the criminal’s residence in a building near Shopping Goiabeiras. At the time, the two factories followed alone in the vehicle. Then they went to the workshop, where they met again with the penal police officer and went to a steakhouse on Miguel Sutil Avenue in the capital.
Arriving at the steakhouse, two women arrived in a Mitsubishi Pajero pickup truck, and had lunch with the trio, one of which paid the entire bill.
After lunch, the CV leader left the establishment with the two women on the Mitsubishi truck. The criminal policeman and Thiago left the steakhouse together, but after the parking lot departed, the detainee descended from the vehicle and joined the trio in Pajero, materializing the escape.
At the time, criminal police officer Leo Márcio performed alone the search services for prison and then returned to the Mechanical Workshop, where he transferred purchases from the criminal’s Hilux truck to the F-2550.
Only after all afternoon tasks did the agent report the director about the alleged escape, in an isolated conversation, which took approximately 40 minutes.
After the temporal lapse, the two investigators recorded different reports, in order to not be held responsible, with various omissions and inconsistencies of information, such as the indication of the leakage site.
