The transmission rate of Covid-19 has fallen again in Brazil, monitoring is carried out by the Info Tracker platform of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp). This is the first drop in the index in a month and a half.
Currently, the transmission rate of Covid-19 is at 2.02 in the country. And, an increase in these numbers had been observed since November and December 2021.
The growing increase is mainly due to the dissemination of the Ômicron variant and its high capacity for infection.
The drop in the transmission rate comes at a time very close to the peak of the contamination rate, on February 5, when the index reached 2.10.
A reference is the month of March 2021, at the height of the pandemic, when the number was 1.29.
The two educational institutions still have a good perspective on this scenario, which is a downward trend in transmission, which will be observed in the coming weeks.
According to Wallace Casaca, coordinator of the platform, based on the weekly projection, the rate will continue to decline, finally putting a ceiling on Ômicron’s transmission speed.
