There are few, but some rules remain in 2023 for the management of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health has given recommendations in the event of a worsening of the pandemic situation, but there are also valid indications these days for the use of masks and the management of the quarantine.
Masks
The Minister of Health Schillaci has signed the extension of the use of masks in health facilities and in RSA until 30 April 2023.
Buffers and isolation
Anyone who has tested positive for Covid and has had no symptoms or hasn’t had them for two days will be able to come out of isolation without having to swab five days after the positivity. The obligation to wear a mask will remain for these people if there are gatherings until the tenth day after the positive test or after a negative test.
Asymptomatics can anticipate the end of isolation compared to the standard 5 days by doing an antigen or molecular test. Obviously the test, done in a health facility and a pharmacy, must be negative.
For the immunosuppressed, those coming from China and health personnel, the rules already in force remain valid. The immunosuppressed can only come out of isolation if they have a negative test done at least 5 days after the positivity. For healthcare workers, if they have been asymptomatic for at least 2 days, isolation will be able to end with the first negative test.
Citizens who entered Italy from China in the 7 days preceding the first positive test, will be able to end isolation after a minimum period of 5 days from the first positive test, if asymptomatic for at least 2 days and negative for one test.
Self-surveillance
The self-surveillance of those who have had contact with a positive has dropped from 10 to 5 days. These people can go out wearing a mask in case of risk of crowding. If symptoms occur during the self-monitoring period, immediate antigen or molecular testing is recommended. Healthcare workers should test on a daily basis until the fifth day after last contact with a confirmed case.
