The São Paulo Court decided to maintain the request for temporary arrest against businessman Adriano Domingues da Costa, caught on June 14 shooting at a car on Rodovia Castello Branco in Boituva, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to the civil police, Costa’s lawyer filed a request to annul the temporary arrest, which was denied by the courts. Thus, Costa remains at large.
The police reported that there is an agreement for the suspect to present himself by Wednesday morning (19) at the General Investigations Police Station (DIG) of Itapetininga.
Investigation Details
The investigation revealed that Costa used a .380 caliber gun with a shaved number to fire the shots, which hit the armored glass of the victims’ vehicle. The weapon was seized and will be sent for forensic examination.
The victims, who were in the car that was shot at, gave a statement yesterday afternoon (17), reporting that the fight began after an alleged illegal overtaking by Costa. The couple stated that the businessman hit their vehicle during the maneuver, causing them to stop on the side of the road to argue.
In the first confrontation, Costa allegedly took out his gun and hit the window of the victims’ car, who took off with the vehicle. Further ahead, the cars stopped again, and Costa asked the couple to roll down the window. As they did not comply with the order, the businessman shot the car’s window and tire. The entire action was recorded and shared on social media.
Lawyers’ Versions
Costa’s lawyer, Luiz Carlos Valsecchi, argued that his client was prevented from overtaking and that the confusion occurred after the victims caused the accident. “The vehicle in front, purposely, at a speed of 100, 120, 130 km per hour, causes a crash, almost a rollover, and tempers become heated between the two drivers”, explained Valsecchi.
Lawyer Nayara Souza, representing the victims, stated that “all measures are being adopted by the police station to arrest the individual who fired shots at the couple”, according to a statement released.
Justice and police continue to work on the case, while suspect Adriano Domingues da Costa remains at large.
