Its spread Delta mutation (B.1.617.2) of coronavirus continues on Germany where it now represents the third quarters (74%) of the samples examined, according to a report by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin, published on Wednesday afternoon, covering the week of 29 June to 4 July.
In recent weeks, Delta’s share had risen from 18% to 39% and then to 60%.
Infections with the previously dominant mutation, the Alpha (British), on the other hand, declined very quickly, to approx 22%.
Other “disturbing” coronavirus mutations continue to play a role secondary role in Germany. However, not all positive samples for mutations are examined, as transmitted by ΑΠΕ ΜΠΕ.
It is recalled that the Delta mutation, which first appeared in India, is considered to be much more contagious from previous forms of coronavirus. In many other countries, it has also massively increased the number of infections.
According to RKI, laboratory experiments show, however, that those who have been fully vaccinated have high level of protection against severe disease progression even with this variant.
