Coronavirus – Brazil: 663,225 killed since pandemic

Brazilian Health Minister Marcelo Keiroga may sign decree on April 22 ending the public health emergency due to the pandemic, the cases, however, are increasing, as is the number of deaths.

Yesterday Thursday, 19,916 cases of SARS-CoV-2 and 114 deaths due to complications of COVID-19 were confirmed.

The largest country in Latin America with 213 million inhabitants records the second heaviest death toll from the new coronavirus in the world in absolute terms, as well as the third largest number of cases: the death toll has reached 663,225 out of a total of 30,418,920 infections

72.6% have been vaccinated

To end the state of emergency, the Minister of Health called for a reduction caseshospital admissions and deaths, compared to the peak period of the wave attributed to the Omicron variant in January.

As of yesterday, 163.8 million Brazilians (76.2% of the population) had been fully immunized for COVID-19, while 85.7 million had received a booster dose, according to government data.
