COP27 paves way for “loss and damage” fund, but ends under criticism

The COP27 (27th United Nations Climate Conference), in Egypt, ended last Sunday (20) with a historic agreement, but still incomplete and little progress in other areas. The biggest cause for concern was the lack of tougher measures to curb the use of fossil fuels and meet pollutant reduction targets.

The delegations present at COP27 approved the proposal for the formation of a committee to define the rules for creating a “loss and damage” fund to repair the damage caused by climate change in the most vulnerable countries. But the details will still be negotiated over the next year, until the next edition of the conference.

In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents an overview of the COP27 results. To draw an overview of the criticisms and difficulties for new advances in the fight against global warming, the special envoy of the CNN Brazil to Egypt Américo Martins and environmentalist Carlos Bocuhy, president of the Brazilian Institute for Environmental Protection (Proam).
