Members of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) who are following the negotiations for the exit of Brazilians from the Gaza Strip told CNN on the afternoon of this Tuesday (7), that Brazil’s most recent diplomatic actions give hope that the group can leave the region of the Israel-Hamas conflict by Thursday (9).
They specifically refer to the contacts between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, and his Israeli counterpart, Eli Cohen, and the head of the international advisory department of the Presidency of the Republic, Celso Amorim, with the United States National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan.
In both calls, the Brazilian government expressed incomprehension about the criteria used for the inclusion of countries authorized to remove their citizens from the Gaza Strip and also demonstrated concern about the situation of Brazilians.

Last week, Vieira said he had received an indication from Cohen that the group could leave the region by this Wednesday (8).
On Saturday (4), Amorim consulted Sullivan about the possibility of Joe Biden’s government helping in the process in relation to Brazilians. The idea was that Brazil’s concern would also reach Benjamin Netanyahu.
Since the closure and reopening of the Rafah crossing, on the border with Egypt, the Brazilian government has avoided working with deadlines.
This Tuesday (7), Brazilians awaiting repatriation in Gaza told CNN have been warned that they can cross the border with Egypt this Wednesday (8).
Itamaraty, however, has not yet confirmed the date. In total, 34 people asked the Brazilian government to be repatriated. There are 24 Brazilians and 10 Palestinians who have family relationships with the group.
