A ByteDance a company that owns the TikTok , launched a new app that resembles Instagram. With the name Whee the new platform aims to share photos only with your closest friends.
The specialized website Android Police and the founder of APKMirror, Artem Russakovskii reported that the application is available for download on Android in “more than a dozen countries”, but has not yet arrived in the United States and Brazil.
According to the app description on Google Play , “Whee is a new social app designed to keep you connected with your close friends in life’s spontaneous moments. Capture and share real-life photos that only your friends can see, allowing you to be your most authentic self. Whee is the best place for close friends to share life moments.”
There, some images of the application’s layout were also available, which shows the messaging part and the Whee feed. Check it out above.
This isn’t the first TikTok app that appears to take inspiration from Instagram. In April this year, the company began launching an image-sharing app called TikTok Notes.
Interpreted as a competitor to Instagram and even Facebook, the new social network promises to focus only on images, and not on videos like its other app.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, it was announced that the trial version of Notes is only available to users in Australia and Canada. There is still no information about the launch in other countries.
