Communication counterattack by Erdogan: Babies on the Turkish presidential plane and Emine with infants in her arms

Just 24 hours after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan must face both public anger and opposition criticism for handling the unimaginable tragedy. The Turkish presidency hit back, with the state-run Anadolu Agency broadcasting photos and videos of babies rescued from the wreckage in Kahramanmaras in southern Turkey being transported to Ankara by the presidential plane.

At the same time, the Turkish presidency published images of Emine Erdogan visiting rescued infants.

His wife Erdogan found in Kahramanmaras. “Emine Erdogan, who loves to hug children, shed tears during her visit,” reports Anadolu.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, upon his arrival yesterday in Turkey’s southern province of Hatay, which has been troubled by the deadly earthquake, acknowledged mistakes of the state apparatus, but made it clear that he will not accept negative criticism.

“Now is the time for unity, for solidarity. In a period like this, I cannot tolerate people who conduct negative campaigns for political interests,” he said.

“Of course, there are gaps, it is impossible that we were prepared for such a disaster,” he stressed, adding that the government will speed up the removal of rubble and the construction of houses.
