Communication between Netanyahu and Putin: Dissatisfaction with the “positions against Israel” held by Moscow officials at the UN

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke today with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing his displeasure with the “anti-Israel positions” adopted by Moscow’s UN envoys, an Israeli statement said.

Russia supported the UN Security Council resolution calling for an “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip on humanitarian grounds, alongside the immediate and unconditional release of all Hamas hostages. A resolution vetoed by the US on Friday (8/12).

Speaking to Putin, Mr Netanyahu he also expressed “his strong disapproval” of Russia’s “dangerous” cooperation with Iran, according to the same Israeli statement.

It is recalled that in the context of a series of meetings focusing on the situation in the Middle East, Putin welcomed the Iranian president on 8/12 in the Kremlin Ibrahim Raisiwho accused her West that he supports her “genocide” committed by Israel against the Palestinians in Gaza.

Analysts point out that conflict in Gaza it helped Russia distract the international community from the war in Ukraine and allowed Moscow to align itself with other developing countries in solidarity with the Palestinians.
