The American author Colleen Hoover just saw your bestseller “This is how it ends” come to life on the big screen. The book adaptation hit theaters on Thursday (8), with Blake Lively , Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar starring in the plot.
Now, the writer is preparing to change the air and leave the flowers aside. A film based on her thriller “Verity” from 2018, is in development by Amazon MGM Studios.
THE CNN Hoover revealed that she was excited about the adaptation: “I think Blake [Lively] and the team did a great job adapting [‘É Assim Que Acaba’]so it makes me really excited to move forward with other books. I’m really excited that ‘Verity’ is about to be adapted. I’m so happy to be able to see it come to life on screen.”
“I’m personally a big fan of thrillers. It’s going to be such a different project than this. Going from such a tragic, emotional love story to a really dark thriller. It’s going to be interesting,” she added.
In the plot, Verity Crawford is the bestselling author responsible for a successful series. She is at the height of her career when she suffers an accident that leaves her unable to finish the story. As a result, Lowen Ashleigh, a writer on the verge of bankruptcy, is invited to write, under a pseudonym, the three remaining books in Verity’s already consolidated series.
In order to better understand the creative process, Lowen decides to spend a few days at the Crawfords’ house, where she finds a kind of autobiography in which the writer narrates the events that occurred from the day she met Jeremy, her husband, until the moments before her accident.
“Verity” It was on The New York Times bestseller list for weeks and sold more than a million copies in one year. In Brazil, it was the sixth best-selling fiction book in 2023. The work is currently in the Top 10 for the first half of 2024 – Hoover has four titles in the ranking.
