The rains in Rio Grande do Sul intensify and fall heavily again this weekend, according to information from Climatempo. Between this Saturday (11) and Sunday (12) the forecast is that the passage of a cold front will reinforce the heavy clouds over the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Furthermore, another low atmospheric pressure is growing on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and the impact between the hot, humid air and the cold air that comes with the cold front will help to form more clouds. In the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul, Climatempo states that the rain will be less over the weekend, with daily accumulations below 100 mm.
During this Sunday (12), the rain should be even heavier in Greater Porto Alegre, with accumulations that could reach up to 80 mm. The low temperatures that stand out this weekend will last until the end of next week. This coming Thursday (16), the forecast is that an influx of cold air will cause a drop in temperatures, which could cause frost on the border with Uruguay.
This last Friday (10), the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a warning for a sharp drop in temperatures in Rio Grande do Sul over the next few days. The state is also expected to face an intense cold front starting next Monday (13).
The number of deaths resulting from the rains in Rio Grande do Sul increased to 136, according to a bulletin released by the state's Civil Defense this Saturday morning (11). There are also 756 injured and 141 missing in the 444 municipalities affected — almost 90% of the cities in Rio Grande do Sul.
