The cold front associated with an extratropical cyclone that formed in Uruguay, this Monday (15), will intensify the rains in the southern region of Brazil. Although the cyclone did not pass through the country, the system will bring instability to the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina .
According to Climatempo, the cold front is expected to arrive in the early hours of Tuesday (16) in the south of the country. The western region of Santa Catarina, the mission regions and part of the Rio Grande do Sul campaigns may have rainfall accumulations of over 100mm, in addition to wind gusts between 51 and 70km/h.
Last weekend, both the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul faced rainy days. In the regions of Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, in Santa Catarina, the rainfall accumulated reached 400mm. In the cities of Biguaçu, Praia Grande, São José, Águas Mornas, Antônio Carlos and Garopaba, in three days, the accumulation was 300mm.
In Morrinhos do Sul, Ibirubá and São Francisco de Assis, in Rio Grande do Sul, the accumulations also approached 90mm.
Despite not having great expectations of rain, the west of Paraná is on alert for storms throughout Tuesday (16), as well as the central and southeastern strip of Santa Catarina and the northern, mountainous and metropolitan region of Rio Grande do South. In Tramandaí and Laguna, wind gusts can reach 90km/h.
Climatempo warns that the central and eastern region of Paraná, despite not having a forecast of high rainfall accumulations, should be on alert for adverse weather conditions that could cause local disruptions.
