Cobra bites influencer more than 50 times; watch video and understand the risks

the digital influencer Jesse Rothacker , from the Forgotten Friend Reptile TV channel, released a video on YouTube in which he appears to be bitten by a snake. In the images, Jesse comes across the reptile during a trail and takes advantage of the unusual moment to explain the characteristics of the species.

“Some people see the coppery pattern and automatically believe it to be another species of snake, a copperhead,” said Jesse, who lives in the state of Pennsylvania, in the United States.

While the boy handles the snake and shows his reactions during the video, the snake bites him more than 50 times. “What I’ve noticed about eastern milkmaids, more than other snakes, is that they’ll give you a little defensive bite and just let go. They seem to be testing the person,” he explained.

According to herpetologist Henrique Abrahão, from the channel “Biologist Henrique, the Biologist of Snakes”, the snake, in fact, is the milk snake species, whose scientific name is Lampropeltis triangulum. In addition, it is not venomous, that is, it does not have toxins.

The reptile, which can measure from 60 centimeters to almost 1 meter in length, has the characteristic “like” to bite, but poses no risks, as it does not have venom.

“The more than 50 bites he took are of no use. What can happen is a dent gets into the person’s skin and maybe brings an infection, but that’s extremely rare.”

“It is obvious that it is not good to be bitten by an animal that does not brush its teeth, since it is possible to get a bacterial infection. It has no problem, precisely because it is not venomous”, he assured.

In Brazil, in case of accidents involving snake bites, according to the biologist, it is essential to perform first aid and remain calm. Also, it is not necessary to handle the snake. If you have your cell phone, you can record images of the animal, at a distance considered safe, and present them to the emergency room.

It is also important to point out that the person who was bitten must remain at rest, stay hydrated and keep the wound site elevated. On what not to do when faced with a bite, Henrique emphasizes:

  • Do not make tourniquets;
  • Do not apply anything to the bite site;
  • Do not pass salt on the cut;
  • Do not try to extract the poison.
