Coachella: Alok fears visa removal from international artists in the US

The DJ Alok 33, It took a radiant mix of electronic music beats to the stage of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday (12), despite the growing fears of international artists about the future of performing in America.

“For me, as Brazilian, It has always been difficult to get a visa . So for us, it didn’t change much, ”Alok told Reuters during an interview behind the scenes of Coachella, held in southern California.

“But of course, to Europe and others, they changed the rules, right?” He added.

He heard about other presentations at Coachella being canceled by 2025 due to problems with visas and is fortunate to have reached the festival when other international artists could not.

In the first week of April, singer FKA Twiggs, who was scheduled to perform at Coachella, canceled her participation. She said she was giving up due to “problems with visas” on the Instagram social media platform. The British also canceled all its American tour.

With the Trump administration quickly canceling the visas of international student of Pro-Palestinian activists, as well as revoking the legal status of 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguns and Venezuelans, international musical artists have also found that they are not immune.

In March, British punk rock bassist UK subs, Alvin Gibbs, shared on the Facebook social media platform that they would have been prevented from entering the United States while traveling for their presentation at La Punk Invasion 2025.

Despite evolutionary visa policies that are avinha, Alok did not worry about the future during his presentation. He raised his music to a new level.

If the Brazilian traditionally uses LED projections to create artificial background rows for his musical sets, for his presentation at Coachella, he evolved performance with live artists dancing to the rhythm of his beats.

“It was very challenging. I’m very used to doing many crazy things at the shows, integrating a lot with new technologies, but this was certainly the hardest,” said Alok.

“We are dealing with human technology and synchronization. But it is also beautiful because, since we are connected in the same synergy, with the same purpose, we can do extraordinary things,” he added, mentioning the desire to maintain human performance rather than too much of artificial intelligence.

“Art is made by the soul,” said the singer, later adding his appreciation for her guest artist, the American singer Ava Max.

Alok is better known for his 2016 single “Hear Me Now” and his 2024 album, “The Future Is Ancestral”, which features nine dance tracks mixed with indigenous songs, some of which have been sung for centuries by Brazilian tribes.
