CNN Search: Approval of Trump’s first 100 days is the smallest in years

Donald Trump regained the Oval Hall and took over the government amid the best opinion research results in his political career.

However, as it approaches the 100 days of its presidency, the Americans’ view of what he has done so far has become deeply negative, reveals a new research from CNN conducted by SSRS.

The 41% Republican approval rate is the lowest for any newly elected president in 100 days since at least Dwight Eisenhower (president between 1953 and 1961)-including Trump’s first term.

The approval of Trump’s presidential conduction has fallen four percentage points since March and seven percentage points below the level recorded at the end of February.

Only 22% say they strongly approve the presidential conduction by the Republican, a new negative record, and about double it claims to disapprove strongly (45%).

Since March, the president has registered notable falls in approval between women and hispanic Americans (falling seven percentage points in each group, to 36% among women and 28% among Hispanic).

Party opinions about Trump remain widely polarized, with 86% of Republicans approving and 93% of democrats disapproving.

But among the independent political, the leader’s approval rate fell to 31%, equaling the lowest point in his first term with this group and practically the same as his position with them in January 2021.

The survey shows that the president is submerged and sinking into almost all the main issues he tried to address during his term, with the public’s confidence in his ability to deal with these issues also declining.

Fall in the approval of economic management

Trump’s approval rates on economic issues have fallen significantly since the beginning of March, with the implementation of its tariff plan generating volatility in the stock market and concerns about the high prices.

Regarding inflation, approval fell nine points to 35%, and in relation to tariffs themselves, four points fell to 35%.

His notes to deal with the economy fell 5 points, to the lowest score of his career, 39%; He reached the previous minimum once in his first term and again in March this year.

Around half (52%) express confidence in its ability to deal with the economy, a fall of 13 points compared to a survey by CNN December.

“I’m disappointed. I didn’t vote for him. I was going to give you the benefit of doubt, because I imagined, you know, that he could do things to help the economy and … more disappointment,” said a 55 -year -old resident who identifies himself as independent and participated in the vote.

She has been working for the federal government for over two decades and asked her name to be not disclosed.

Federal Government Management

After long -range efforts to reshape the Federal Government’s workforce, Trump has lost ground in the approval rates for federal government management (42% approve, a six -point drop since March) and 46% express confidence in it to name the best people for positions, representing a drop of eight points since December.

Less than half (43%) sees Republican actions as a necessary reorganization in Washington, while the majority (57%) states that the presidency approach is putting the country at risk.

Derek Steinmetz, Wuwatosa’s Democrat, Wisconsin, said he was more concerned with Trump’s “widespread disrespect for the rules, norms, and structure of our government. It was a concern in the first term, but it is much worse this time because there are fewer barriers in force.”

Trump’s posture in foreign relations and immigration

Trump’s actions in foreign relations – which include a more friendly posture compared to Russia in the war with Ukraine and the end of many foreign aid programs – are also being the subject of majority disapproval (39% approve, 60% disapprove).

Half claims to have a lot or confidence in his ability to deal with foreign relations compared to 55% before taking office.

Even in relation to immigration, a theme that the American leader had exceeded his first term record at seven percentage points earlier this year, the survey finds decline approval rates and less confidence in the president’s actions.

Overall, 45% now approve of six percentage points below March, and 53% express confidence in their ability to deal with the situation compared to 60% in December.

Gender Identity Policy

Trump obtained slightly positive ratings in just one point tested in the research: his approach to issues related to gender identity and transgender people.

Overall, 51% approve their approach to the subject, including 90% of Republicans, 48% of independents and 16% of Democrats.

“In fact, I was very happy that he said that there is only man and female. In fact, I was very happy when it was disclosed, when he turned it into law, that there is only man and there is only woman, that there is no binary, he, she, they.

Lisa Munson, mother of three children of Maryland who voted for Trump, said when asked what she considers Trump’s biggest achievement.

American Arts and Culture Management

Republican’s efforts to shape the American arts, culture and history, however, are much less popular.

About 64% considers inappropriate that he takes steps such as taking control of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and seeking changes in exhibitions in the Smithsonian Institution museums, an effort that he delegated in part to Vice President Jd Vance.

Vance equals Trump’s general approval rate of 41%, with 58% disapproval. Neither Trump nor Vance are welcomed by most Americans.

Only 40% claim to have a favorable view of the president and 34%, a favorable view of Vance.

Overall, Trump’s trust to use the power of the presidency responsible (46% confidence, falling eight points) and to exercise real leadership to the country (50% confidence, nine -point drop has fallen dramatically since December.

The US President issued a series of executive decrees determining changes in government practices and policies that faced numerous judicial disputes.

“I’m not a fan of these executive orders that Trump and all the other presidents are constantly emitting. In Trump’s case, I think he exaggerates in these executive orders, which is why many of them are overthrown by the courts. You have no authority to do it,” George Mastrodonato, voter of the political leader and partially retired lawyer who participated in the research.

Mastrodonate continued to say that, “I would like him to be a little more discreet and focus on the executive orders he writs and the questions he could win in court. He looks like Yosemite Sam, you know?”

Just over half of Americans (52%), including the majority of Democrats and Republicans, says Trump’s second presidency will change the country in a fundamental and lasting way.

More than one third (36%) states that any significant changes that the Republican will disappear after departure from office, and only 12% say this second term will not result in significant changes to the United States.

Campaign promises

Still, Americans are quite divided on whether Trump has fulfilled important campaign promises.

Just under half, 48%, says he is doing a good job, while 51%, bad job – numbers that closely reflect this point in his first term.

A 55% majority states that he has taken at least some measures to effectively solve the country’s problems, although only 28% believe he has already done something that has already begun to help solve the country’s problems.

Mastrodonate, Trump’s voter, also considers the Republican largely as someone who fulfills his promises.

“He is doing what he said he would. Some of his approaches would adopt a different approach, but, you know, he’s Donald Trump, so he will do what he wants.”

The research of CNN It was held with 1,678 adults across the country by SSRS from April 17 to 24, using a combination of online and telephone interviews.

Survey samples were originally extracted from two sources – an online panel based on probability and a registration -based – and combined sample.

The interviewees were initially contacted by mail, telephone or email.

The results for the full sample have a sample error margin of about 2.9 points.
