Residents of Penza born in 1988, 1990 and 1993, who had previously had no problems with the law, rented a hangar in the rural Bessonovsky district in 2021. There, Penza residents installed mining equipment and connected to a nearby transformer substation. According to the investigation, the power engineers were not notified of the man’s connection. The miners caused damage to the TNS Energy Penza company in the amount of over 2.7 million rubles, according to the court decision.
Only one of the three defendants admitted his guilt. The court issued an indictment under Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing property damage to the owner of the property by deception in the absence of signs of theft, committed by an organized group, causing especially large damage). Themis took into account that one of the defendants reimbursed the energy workers 2.6 million rubles. Therefore, all defendants were sentenced to a suspended sentence of one year, with a probationary period of one year and six months. In addition, the convicts must jointly pay the power engineers the remainder of the damage in the form of 131,000 rubles.
It was recently reported that in the Siberian city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, the building of the magistrate’s court almost caught fire due to mining in the annex to the building.
