The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, through the Cargo Robbery and Theft Police Station (DRFC), launched an operation this Tuesday (7) against a gang specialized in theft of high-value cargo. During the action, six people were arrested.
According to the Civil Police, the agents' initial objective was to execute nine arrest warrants, in addition to search and seizure warrants.
The six detainees were located in Duque de Caxias, and in the municipality of São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense.
The action was the result of investigations that began at the end of February this year, after a series of robberies that occurred on Rodovia Washington LuÃs, in Duque de Caxias.
The suspects were identified through intelligence mechanisms, information gathering and recognition carried out by the gang's victims.
According to investigations, the gang is linked to Comando Vermelho (CV).
According to the Cargo Theft and Theft Police Station (DRFC), the storage and sale of stolen cargo took place in Jardim Gramacho. The place was constantly guarded by bandits armed with rifles, pistols and even grenades.
The cargo was sold to businessmen and traders from different sectors.
In one of the crimes committed by the gang, the group invaded a cargo transport company in the Pavuna neighborhood, North Zone of the capital, armed with rifles and hijacked a van with employees who were entering the place, surrendered the security guards and accessed a room, where they were stored. around 10 thousand ammunition of different calibers.
The stolen material was taken to Complexo do Alemão.
