The state of Santa Catarina is expected to be hit by intense storms starting this Sunday afternoon (28), according to a Civil Defense alert. The rains are expected to persist until Monday night (29) and there is a risk of flooding, flash floods, damage to the electrical network and roofing.
According to Civil Defense, bad weather is forecast throughout the state and storms will be typical of summer, which occur due to the combination of heat and humidity.
The areas receiving the most attention are the regions of the Midwest and the Coast, which may experience gales and possible hail.
Civil Defense states that it is common for sudden changes in the weather to occur on hot summer days, and advises that, in the event of storms and intense rain, the population should avoid traveling, seek somewhere sheltered and not come into contact with water.
The last week was marked by unstable weather in Santa Catarina due to maritime circulation and the action of a Cyclonic Vortex. These meteorological phenomena, acting together, caused recurring and large volumes of rain, mainly on the north coast of the state. Several occurrences associated with flooding, as well as flash floods and occasional landslides were recorded throughout the week. There were no victims.
Throughout this Sunday (28) and Monday (29), the action of a low pressure system in the ocean causes maritime circulation to lose strength. Therefore, temperatures are once again approaching 30°C in the state, facilitating the chance of isolated storms occurring in all regions.
