Civil Defense and Firefighters are mobilized in Petrópolis after rain this Sunday

Teams from the Secretary of State for Civil Defense (Sedec-RJ) and the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) are mobilized to prevent and minimize the damage caused by rain in Petrópolis, in the Serrana Region, this Sunday afternoon. (20).

According to the Fire Department, by 5:30 pm, the military had been called for five incidents in the city, including a landslide threat on Rua 24 de Maio, with no casualties, and rescuing stranded people.

The State Center for Monitoring and Alerting Natural Disasters in Rio de Janeiro (Cemaden-RJ) monitors weather conditions and rainfall 24 hours a day in the state, sending alerts to the regions in case of risks of landslides or floods.

According to Cemaden-RJ, the highest rainfall record so far is 207.8 mm in 4 hours and the most affected locations were Dr. Thouzet, Vila Felipe and Independence.
