City Hall will invest R $ 200 million to revitalize buildings in downtown SP

The revitalization process of downtown São Paulo earned an increase of $ 200 million and a new public call for the “residential buildings retrofit”. The focus is to increase the offer of housing in the region, but with priority for social housing. The announcement was made by Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) this Wednesday (16).

The amount made available to the announcement should cover up to 25% of the cost of the works of old enterprises, the program’s largest investment so far.

Real estate listed for participation in retrofit should allocate 60% of the units for housing projects aimed at families with income of up to one and six minimum wages. Another 15% for families with income of up to ten minimum wages and 15% to other lanes. To those interested, just look for guidance on the São Paulo City Hall website.

In some properties that have already passed Retrofit, previously, the rentals are around R $ 1,500 for apartments near Praça da República, for example.

The measure is part of extensive process of leading people to live in downtown São Paulo and overcome the goal of 200,000 new residents to the region.

In a news conference, Ricardo Nunes listed that in addition to the revitalization of buildings, other actions have already allowed a “great improvement”.

“We are doing, for example, the renovation of the entire boardwalk in a historic triangle. There are 23 councilmen, $ 63 million of investment. In the quadrilateral of the Republic, there are 14 revitalized boardwalks. We are reducing taxes to various commercial activities here (center), requalifying our squares and also with the advance of the state government to bring the administrative headquarters of the government here.”

A constant complaint of those who attend the center is security, a fact that, according to Nunes, is already being resolved.

“Center of São Paulo today is on another level of security that made us possible to attract many investors. If here had an insecure area, I would not be able to attract partners in order to be part of these edicts, so that they could be part of these programs of the City of São Paulo. We focused a lot in security,” he said.
