For the first time in history, the Christmas address by Pope Francis was delivered online. The Pope addressed the people online, from a chamber inside the Hall of Benediction. Usually, the Pope gives the Ubi and Orbi  (to the city and the world) message from the St Peter’s Basilica every year on Christmas day.
This time, however, the Pope had to deliver the message of love and peace online, due to the Corona Virus pandemic that has effected the entire world. The state of Italy is also under lock down, owing to the second wave of the virus that has hit the European countries hard.
The Christmas mass had also been delivered earlier than usual, in line with the 10 pm curfew imposed in the country.
A message of Peace
In his message, Pope Francis urged the people to be united, specially when times are as hard as they are nowadays. He further emphasized on ensuring that people across the globe had access to the vaccine of Corona Virus, without taking into consideration the financial status of anyone.
The Pope also prayed for the those who were suffering in different conflicts around the world, including Syria and Yemen. He also hoped the international community would support each other in times of grief and do what ever it can to eradicate conflicts.
