‘Choled Curitiba’: Man used gossip profile to extort victims

The Paraná Civil Police (PCPR) arrested, on Thursday (24), a 29-year-old man Suspected of extorting more than 60 people through fake profiles on social networks .

The arrest was held in the Cidade Industrial District of Curitiba (CIC), where a search and seizure warrant was also fulfilled. Cell phones and computers were collected on site and will be expert.

According to police, the investigated used profiles with the name “Chophe Curitiba” and variations to publish offensive content, liars and intimate information about the victims.

In exchange for the exclusion of posts – or to avoid new exhibitions – it required payments via Pix, with values ​​sent to various bank accounts. The values ​​ranged from $ 300 to $ 1,000.

Images of the conversations shared by the police show the suspect charging money from a victim to delete the post made. “If you don’t pay Pix, you can’t go erase,” he wrote.


“The pages made criminal posts and demanded money so that new publications were not made or to erase those already done,” said Deputy Thiago Lima. The suspect also used to erase the profiles often, making it difficult to identify and avoid complaints on the platforms.

The victims, all residents of Curitiba, reported the case to PCPR, which began investigations after several records of police reports.

The suspect was referred to the penitentiary system, and the police are continuing to determine the consequences of the case.
