China: Xi Jinping Says Corruption in China Remains Serious and Complicated

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that corruption in the country remains serious and complex, although progress has been made in the fight against corruption.

The “stubbornness and danger” of corruption can not be underestimated, Xi was quoted as saying by CCTV. He spoke at a study group meeting of the Politburo of the CCP Central Committee on Friday.

Xi promised zero tolerance for corruption and called on senior government officials to keep themselves and their families and relatives in check. He called on senior officials to maintain a moderate and clean relationship between the government and the business community.

China’s Political Bureau said Friday that the anti-corruption network in financial institutions was successful, in a possible sign of relief for the $ 59 trillion sector, the official Xinhua news agency reported. The Central Disciplinary Inspectorate’s investigations have helped strengthen the party’s leadership in the financial sector and prevent risks, the Politburo said.
