China has said yes to its first RNA vaccine against the coronavirus

The “green light” to use the first Chinese coronavirus vaccine with messenger mRNA, gave on Wednesday (22/3) h China as announced by its manufacturer, as foreign vaccines are still not approved in the country.

China experienced a surge in cases in December and January after the strict lockdowns, quarantines and travel restrictions that had been in place until then were suddenly lifted.

The vaccine, made by pharmaceutical group CSPC, was approved for “emergency use” by Beijing’s health regulatory authority, the company said in a statement.

The vaccine in question, as reported by the Athens News Agency, proved to be very effective during a trial, in which it was used as a booster dose for people who had already been vaccinated with other types of vaccines, he added without further clarification.

Messenger RNA vaccines are generally considered to be among the most effective in reducing severe disease and death from the coronavirus.
