China applies tariffs to the US but leaves open door for diplomacy

China has announced a tariff package against the United States in response to Donald Trump. The American, in turn, said he will talk to Xi Jinping about the situation, but “no haste” to establish this dialogue.

The measures of the Chinese Ministry of Finance involve 15% rates for American coal and natural gas. 10% taxes were added to oil, agricultural machinery, high -end cars and pickup trucks from the United States.

The actions are valid on February 10th. In addition to tariffs, Beijing increased control over exports to various metals and technologies.

China also made a complaint at the World Trade Organization against Trump fares. According to the Chinese, taxation violates the institution’s rules and is totally unjustifiable.

The Xi Jinping government has still opened an investigation against Google. The company is accused of violating the country’s anti -monopoly law, but has the search engine blocked in the region.

Experts point out that Chinese measures have been moderate, making room for diplomatic paths without hurting local commerce.

For Beijing, however, the bilateral relationship between countries is not yet very clear. Precisely for this reason, the Chinese avoid making concessions to the White House and still see the possibility of climbing in the trade war.

The start of tariff battles promises to weigh for American consumers. In addition to chasing the Chinese, the Republican removed the exemption of rates for imported packages of up to $ 800, called “de Minimis”.

With the suspension, products purchased abroad should have a pricing climbing. Remedies, cell phones, tools and even toys will also suffer from the impact of US rates imposed on China.

Trump, on the other hand, ensures that the United States will be stronger in the situation.

“It’s all right. We’re going to go out very well against China and against all the rest of the world, ”said Trump.
