China: A strong earthquake of more than 6 degrees occurred in Sichuan province

Earthquake size 6.8 points according to the China Seismological Network, or magnitude 6.6 according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), occurred in a mountainous region of the southwest China in Sichuan province, where they are often recorded Earthquake vibrations.

The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 12:52 (local time, 07:52 Greece time) at a shallow focal depth 10 kilometerswas located in the city of Luding, about 200 kilometers southwest of Chengdu, the provincial capital Sichuan.

A few minutes later another magnitude earthquake 4.2 points occurred in the town of Yaan near Luding. According to the Athens News Agency, so far there are no reports of damage.

In 2013, a powerful earthquake struck Ya’an, killing more than 100 people and injuring thousands.
