Chickenpox, scabies, diarrheal diseases spread in Gaza Strip

Cases of chicken pox, scabies and diseases that cause diarrheal episodes are on the rise in the Gaza Stripbecause of the terrible conditions in terms of hygiene, the United Nations warns.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) explained that among the main reasons for the spread of diseases is that Gazans are forced to drink contaminated water, in the absence of clean drinking water.

He did not give specific numbers, as reported by the German Agency and relayed by the Athens Agency. However, he warned against it risk of increasing cases of infectious diseases if the water supply is not restored and if the sewage facilities are not re-energized, or receive fuel.

Israel’s military has placed the Gaza Strip under a “total siege”, cutting off water, electricity, food, medicine, fuel and other essential suppliesin the context of retaliatory operations following the attack by Hamas on Israeli territory, the deadliest state-sponsored, on October 7.
