Chiara Gamberale: “Goodbye 2020, you taught me the value of distance”

What do we leave behind in 2020 and what do we keep for ourselves?

We looked for this answer together with the writer Chiara Gamberale, in the new episode of the Vanity Fair podcast, Goodbye 2020, dedicated to all the ways in which we are preparing to greet this “unique” year. TOWe retraced this 2020 that is about to end, starting from the lockdown that Chiara Gamberale told in her latest novel, “Like the sea in a glass”, born as a notebook, a diary on which to write in pencil, as she herself told us in this interview.

“I would like to greet him by saying thank you for what you taught me, although, I must say that I really haven’t yet focused on what he taught us.”

“I like to transform all crises into an opportunity and I think it reminded us of the value of distance and therefore of closeness,” Chiara Gamberale told us. “He reminded us that we can determine the distance from people, and therefore we can consequently determine proximity as well.”
