In a quick test carried out by the reporting team, the platform started normally, but was unable to answer a question. “Something went wrong. If the problem persists, please contact us through our help center,” the program said.
According to the website Downdetector, which highlights user complaints on the web, the problem began shortly after 3pm and reached a peak of complaints at 3:54pm, with more than 2,000 alerts.
The notification rate began to drop soon after, but, at 5:39 pm, there were still 500 more. In total, 80% of complaints indicate a failure in ChatGPT, 12% problems only on the chatbot website and 8% on the mobile application.
On X, formerly Twitter, OpenAI, the company that manages the platform, only stated that “most of ChatGPT, API and Sora have been down for a few hours” and apologized for the inconvenience. However, the cause of the problem or an estimated time for resolution were not provided.
“We apologize for the trouble this is causing. We identify the problem and begin recovery. We hope to return as soon as possible”, ends the message.
