Charles must maintain “affection” between the Royal Family and Brazil, says British ambassador

The acting ambassador of the United Kingdom to Brazil, Melanie Hopkins, said, in an interview with CNN, that there is a “affection” between the British Royal Family and Brazil. According to her, the relationship must remain with Charles III as king.

Melanie cited the publication made by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) lamenting the death of the queen.

“Although the monarch represents the head of state, the relationship is between the states. Today, President Bolsonaro published a statement citing the affection that the Brazilian population feels for the queen and the gratitude and recognition of so many years of service and work,” he said.

The ambassador recalled the Queen’s visit to Brazil in 1968, when she visited cities such as Salvador, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and São Paulo.

“I think we will see the continuity of this affection that exists between the Royal Family and Brazil. Charles has also visited Brazil several times, we know he has a lot of affection and interest in Brazil”, highlighted Melanie.

Then the ambassador said that Charles must keep social agendas as priorities when he takes over the reign. “His priorities are very well known, especially protecting communities, protecting the environment, opportunities for young people,” she added.
