Chamber to vote on MP for Auxílio Brasil this Wednesday (27), says Lira

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) said this Tuesday (26) that the Provisional Measure (MP) that establishes a temporary floor for the Brazilian Aid of R$ 400 should be voted on this Wednesday ( 27). In a press conference with journalists, Lira classified the value of the benefit as “sufficient” and “responsible”.

“In Bolsa Família, we had an average value of R$ 70 to R$ 80 for a floor and a maximum value of R$ 175 to R$ 180. Auxílio Brasil comes with R$ 406 for a floor and R$ 852 for a ceiling. I think it is already a huge effort by the government, in addition to the fact that the waiting lines for payments have been zeroed and there is still demand to enter the program”, he told journalists.

Federal deputy João Roma (PL-BA), former Minister of Citizenship, was appointed rapporteur for the measure that created the social program to replace Bolsa Família.

The MP was edited in December 2021 and depended on the approval by the National Congress of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of the Precatórios so that the payment of the additional could be extended during this year.

Lira also said that there should be no major changes in the measure. “The idea is to keep the interim measure in the spirit and scope that it came in,” she said. For 2023, there is no forecast of payment of the extraordinary benefit. Lira also did not anticipate whether the amount of R$ 400 will be permanent.
