For the second year in a row, the Bakery SP chose with the direct help of the public added to the technical look of a body of judges to best bakery in São Paulo .
The award was conceived by the duo Eduardo Maya (chef and creator of Projeto Aproxima and Festival Comida Di Buteco) and Miguel Icassatti (journalist, columnist at UOL and curator at Sociedade Paulista de Cultura de Boteco) and also elected the preferred “gastronomic institutions” of each region, in addition to establishments in seven categories.
THE great champion of Padotaria SP 2022 was the Ceci , in Planalto Paulista, which is also the favorite in the South Zone of the city. The best of the North Zone is the Panetteria ZN , from Mandaqui. Repeating the dose of 2021, the one chosen in the West Zone was the Merci Bakery , installed in Vila Romana; in the Center, the bread gallery , in Jardim América; and in the East Zone, the CEPAM from Vila Prudente.
Chosen only by popular vote, five of the seven awards also went to the Ceci : Best Bread, Coffee, Sweet, Cold Service and Hatter Team. THE Big Bread Express from Itaquera, was elected in the rookie category in 2022, Best Roast Chicken. already the best bun is, like last year, from Portuguese State in Vila Pauliceia.
“Padocaria was born a year ago to value the city’s bakeries and in 2022 we exceeded expectations with the number of recommended bakeries and the diversity of establishments. It was a pleasant surprise to have among the 25 finalists 10 new ones regarding the launch of the project. It is a sign that the category is more attuned and understanding that by serving well and offering a good service, it will have good repercussions”, says Icassatti.
The election took place in two stages. In the first, in September, the public voted via the project’s website in the free-form categories and pointed to more than 750 bakeries using the digital platform alone. On the second, in October, it elected the best bakeries selected among the five most voted in phase 1 in each region. Here, in addition to the public, a specialized panel of judges participated in the selection.
