“My family rolls my eyes every time I say this, but it’s true. I’m serious about stopping acting. There are many things I want to do with my life,” she said in an interview with Radio Times magazine.
The artist, married to screenwriter and director Andrew Upton, with whom she has four children, confessed that she had to learn to deal with public exposure over the years.
“I spent a lifetime learning to deal with the feeling of discomfort. When you go to a talk show, or so far now, and then see excerpts from what you said being highlighted and placed in italics, they sound much stronger. But I’m not this person. I made a long time to start feeling minimally comfortable with the idea of being photographed.”
Despite his constant presence in the cinema, Cate said he has never seen himself at the center of the industry: “I always felt on the fringes, so I always surprised when I feel I belong to somewhere. I enter the environments with curiosity, without expecting to be accepted or welcome.”
In a recent interview with Business Insider, the actress spoke what she expected when joining her career.
“The life expectancy of an actress, when I started, was about five years. I think women women have more autonomy. There are more women in the writer room, and the more diverse the sector has been from the base, when development of projects, the more exciting it is for the public.”
