Accompanying the photo, on social media and on the Royal House website, are some details of the ceremony on 6 May in Westminster, and the invitation that 2000 lucky have received in the past months, made by Andrew Jamieson, heraldic artist and miniaturist, who often draws inspiration for his work from the legend of King Arthur.

Suggestions of yesterday and contemporaneity coexist in the small work of art that invites you to the big day of King Charles III. At the center of the card, the green man, an ancient figure from British folklore: he symbolizes spring, the beginning of the new kingdom. Around, oak leaves, ivy and hawthorn, and then other flowers that tell the story of the United Kingdom, all depicted in groups of three, because Charles is the third king to bear his name. Next to the coats of arms of the sovereigns, their names, which reveal what many suspected: Camilla will not be queen consort, but simply queen.

Beginning with the coronation, then, England’s most hated ex-woman will be alone “Queen Camilla” without that superfluous adjective, «consort», which Carlo never really got down to. It is, moreover, a historical convention: all the former queen consorts of the United Kingdom were called and referred to simply as “queen”, if anything, it was the presence of a possible dowager queen within the family that was underlined as “queen mother”.

The times, moreover, are now more than ripe, as are the British. In the 18 years of marriage with Carlo (the couple will celebrate their anniversary on next April 9th) Camilla has come a long way to earn a place in the hearts of her subjects, focusing on her uniqueness and spontaneity, dodging comparisons with Diana and trying to show herself for who she really is. A long work, supported by an unshakeable patience. Not everyone loves herObviously, as not everyone loves the new king, who has been contested several times in recent months, but it is undoubtedly their moment.
