A windstorm caused an Azul plane to land sideways on the runway at Guarulhos airport (SP) last Saturday afternoon (28).
The image, captured by SBGR Live channelshows the moment that Azul’s Airbus A321 approaches the ground. Just before touching the runway, the twin-engine jet sits on its side until the landing gear touches the asphalt.
The pilot then manages to adjust the aircraft’s direction, which completes the landing normally.
Watch the video:
The plane, registration number PR-YJC, landed in Guarulhos at 3:32 pm. The aircraft had taken off shortly before 1 pm from Recife (PE).
Wanted by CNN Azul stated that the landing “took place within parameters and in complete safety, even with the winds recorded in the region” and that passengers disembarked normally.
“Azul reiterates that the security of its operations is a primary value for the company,” added the company.
The concessionaire GRU Airport assured that the airport operated normally throughout the day.
