Police are investigating the causes of the accident that left 7 people dead and more than 20 people injured in Immigrant, Rio Grande do Sul.
According to the delegate José Romaci Reis, who conducts the investigation, the main hypothesis is that the bus has had a problem in the brakes.
“It seems that yes (there was a problem with the brakes). Now, the cause of this I do not know yet. But due to the speed developed by the bus plus the driver’s speech, this can already give us a north,” said the delegate.
Reis gave no details about what would have said the bus driver to the police.
The vehicle should also pass analysis of the General Institute of Expertise, which will indicate the cause of the accident. Police are awaiting the result.
The bus belongs to the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). The rector of the institution, Luciano Schuch, said today in an interview with Radio Gaucha that the 13 vehicles of the fleet will undergo a new review after the accident. Daily trips are suspended.
