K-pop group BTS is not expected to produce new songs, music videos and albums, nor perform shows, next year. The band is on temporary hiatus, with three of its seven members serving South Korea’s mandatory military service.
Although all band members have signed a contract that guarantees they will be together in 2025, they must all fulfill their country’s military obligation first.
This Wednesday (22), another member declared that he would enlist in the Army. Jung Kook said he will begin military service in December, according to Reuters.
“Next December… I will leave you for a short time to serve in the Army,” said Jung Kook. “After I come back, I promise I’ll be where I’ve always been, on stage – having grown up.”
The band’s management agency stated that the other three remaining members — RM, Jimin and V — will follow the same path.
The forecast is that they will fulfill the obligation by mid-2025.
