British guitarist Jeff Beck died on Tuesday (10), aged 78, as announced on his official Twitter profile. “On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he passed away peacefully yesterday. His family requests privacy as they process this tremendous loss,” the post reads.

It was more than 50 years of career, which began in the Yardbirds in the 1960s, which marked the world of rock with its innovative way of playing guitar without a pick. He has earned two stars in the Hall of Fame and has won a total of eight Grammys. Last year it was nominated for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song at the Grammy Awards.
In July of last year, he released an album with Johnny Depp with thirteen tracks. The project titled “18” is a mix of original compositions and covers by other artists, such as John Lennon and the Beach Boys.
Music personalities, such as Kiss founder and lead singer Gene Simmons, used social media to mourn the artist’s death.
