Britain: Intercept Russian aircraft in the Baltic

Britain, in a statement, revealed two incidents of Russian aircraft from British fighters over the Baltic Sea, in an area near NATO airspace. According to the British Ministry of Defense, these two incidents took place on different days on Tuesday and Thursday. Specifically, on Tuesday, two RAF Typhoon aircraft took off from Poland and intercepted a Russian Ilyushin IL-20M “Coot-A” flying aircraft flying over the Baltic. In addition, on Thursday, two other British fighter aircraft intervened to intercept an unknown aircraft found flying over the same maritime area, near NATO airspace. British Minister of Armed Forces, Luke Polard, said in a statement the importance of these missions, pointing out Britain’s ability to work with Sweden, the newest NATO member, and to ensure the integrity of the airspace where and wherever required.
