Britain: 38,409 new cases – Mandatory quarantine for virus carriers lifted

Britain today announced 38,409 new cases of coronavirus and 15 deaths of patients who had been diagnosed positive up to 28 days earlier.

Yesterday Sunday, 25,696 new infections and 74 deaths were announced.

According to official figures from the Ministry of Health, the weekly index for both new infections and deaths is declining compared to those of previous weeks. In particular, in the last seven days there is a decrease of new infections by 20.5% and deaths by 19.1% compared to the previous week.

Britain is among the countries hardest hit by the pandemic with more than 161,000 dead.

Mandatory quarantine for virus carriers is abolished

Britain will lift the mandatory quarantine measure for citizens who test positive for Covid-19 from February 24, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today.

“Until April 1, we will continue to advise citizens who test positive for coronavirus to stay home. But then we will encourage those with Covid-19 symptoms to take individual responsibility,” he added.

At the same time, he announced that the free mass sampling for the detection of coronavirus will stop, noting that there will be care for those who belong to the vulnerable groups of the population. “From April 1, when winter is over and the virus is less easily transmitted, we will stop free tests for the general public,” said Boris Johnson.

The British Prime Minister wished Queen Elizabeth a speedy recovery from Covid-19, emphasizing that her infection is a “reminder that the virus has not disappeared”.
