The name of Corey Mylchreest he will remain unknown to the public for a while yet, but now it is a very short wait before he becomes the it-boy of the small screen. Is he the male protagonist from the Netflix series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story)prequel to the successful Regency saga based on the novels by Julia Quinn (Mondadori).
The semi-unknown young man, recently spotted in Sandman, plays King George III as a young manthe one who in Shonda Rhimes’ version (Grey’s Anatomy) subverts social rules by falling in love with an African-American girl and transforming her into the sovereign of England.
As can be understood from the first, very romantic teaser, a dynamic of love and hate is immediately triggered between the two because the girl (played by India Amarteifio, already seen in Sex Education) does not want to know about arranged marriages and longs only for his own freedom.
The story is unpublished because the royal couple was introduced in the mother series by the producer so anything could happen and, judging by the first image of Her Majesty, it seems that the public is about to meet a real prince charming. Corey Mylchreest – you can bet – will try to fill the void left in the hearts of fans after the exit of Regé-Jean Page (the Duke of Hastings). For the moment, he is also not very active on social media: on Instagram he has just over 15,000 followers for a handful of posts, which suggests that he opened his profile on the occasion of his big debut. Charm, at least on screen, is assured and – at least according to what little he has shared online – he doesn’t lack self-irony, a fundamental skill to keep his feet on the ground before being swallowed up by success and ending up in Hollywood gear.
After the sad news of the abandonment of Phoebe Dyvenor (Daphne), at least in the episodes of the third season dedicated to Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), the audience of this costume drama in the soap room really needed to cheer up morale with some juicy anticipation. Not that much is known about the plot of the prequel, of course, but more or less the elements of this fairy-tale interracial love story have been partially revealed in the first two seasons of Bridgerton. We see that Queen Charlotte deeply loves her husband and that he loves her back even if her senile dementia now often takes him elsewhere with her mind and sometimes he finds it hard to recognize her.
A new era is about to begin and – the creative team bets on it – the very young protagonists will become king and queen even from the heart.
