Brazilians are not happy with “Oppenheimer” favoritism, says survey

Two weeks from Oscars 2024 a survey showed that Brazilians are not happy with the likelihood of the film “Oppenheimer ” to be one of the biggest winners of the event.

The film had a average of just 27% happiness of the population according to the latest ECR (Emotional Climate Report) carried out by the Latam Intersect PR agency with data provided by Delta Analytics.

On the other hand, “Maestro”, by Bradley Cooper, and “Anatomy of a Fall”, by Justine Triet, were named as favorites with an average of 71% happiness or contentment.

The data collected analyzes nine main emotions expressed around the nine most popular films nominated for the world's main film awards.

Following the favorites in terms of happiness are:

  • “Maestro”, with 71%;
  • “Anatomy of a Fall”, with 71%;
  • “American Fiction”, with 62%;
  • “Barbie'', with 61%;
  • “Poor Creatures'', with 55%;
  • “Past Lives'', with 54%;
  • “Zone of Interest”, with 46%;
  • “Oppenheimer'', with 27%; It is
  • “The Rejected”, with 21%.

Even though he is the favorite to receive statuettes, “Oppenheimer” had a surprisingly low score in terms of positive emotions on Brazilian social networks, with higher percentages of surprise and fear than happiness.

The “Barbieheimer” phenomenon provoked more mixed emotions than other nominees, especially considering the Academy’s apparent favoritism towards Oppenheimer,” comments Roger Darashah, co-director of Latam Intersect PR, in a press release.
