Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is set to undergo a second surgery on Thursday. The procedure is deemed necessary after an emergency operation performed to treat a hematoma near the brain, according to today’s announcement by the attending physicians. The 79-year-old Lula remains in the intensive care unit of the Syro-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo and will undergo a middle meningeal artery embolization on Thursday morning, the medical release said. The treating doctors also report that Lula did not experience any post-operative complications in the first 24 hours, he did physical therapy and was visited by members of his family.
