Brazilian President Lula undergoing second surgery for brain hematoma

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is set to undergo a second surgery on Thursday. The procedure is deemed necessary after an emergency operation performed to treat a hematoma near the brain, according to today’s announcement by the attending physicians. The 79-year-old Lula remains in the intensive care unit of the Syro-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo and will undergo a middle meningeal artery embolization on Thursday morning, the medical release said. The treating doctors also report that Lula did not experience any post-operative complications in the first 24 hours, he did physical therapy and was visited by members of his family. The hematoma for which Lula was operated on was the result of a fall that the Brazilian president had, about two months ago, inside his home.
