Brazil has joined the Global Entry program to facilitate the entry of Brazilian citizens into the United States, the federal government announced this Monday (7).
According to the statement, the program is administered by the US Customs and Border Protection Authority (CBP) and allows for faster clearance of passport control upon arrival in the country.
Thus, it will be possible to process the ticket in the USA at selected airports through automatic kiosks, avoiding queues.
Interested travelers must pay an application fee, go through a CBP process, and complete a pre-registration and evaluation process. The presentation of a visa remains mandatory.
The government expects the simplified transaction to stimulate business contacts and tourism.
The implementation of the GE for Brazilian citizens was coordinated by the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic and had the involvement of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Public Security and Economy, as well as the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Police.
