Brazil recorded 991,017 probable cases of dengue and 207 deaths in 2024 this Wednesday (28).
Another 674 deaths are under investigation, according to updated data from the Ministry of Health's Arbovirus Panel, to determine whether there is a relationship with the disease.
The age group most affected by the virus, among both men and women, continues to be 30 to 39 years old, with 87,070 and 106,151 cases, respectively. Regarding the incidence rate of the disease per 100 thousand inhabitants, the number is 488.
Furthermore, the ministry states that the percentage of probable cases of the disease is approximately 55% among women, while the percentage of male individuals is approximately 44%.
Due to the significant increase in the number of cases of the virus in the country, the Ministry of Health announced this Tuesday (27) the holding of D-Day to combat dengue in Brazil for next Saturday (2). The “10 minutes against dengue” mobilization aims to intensify actions to prevent and eliminate outbreaks of Aedes aegypti, the mosquito that transmits the disease.
“I would like to make a call to society, to press professionals, to be with us on D-Day – Brazil united against dengue, next Saturday. This is a time for attention not only from the health authorities, the Ministry of Health, but also from society as a whole”, stated the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, in a press conference held yesterday.
Considering the historical trends of dengue fever in the country, epidemic peaks usually occur between the months of March and April, contrary to the current situation.
