Brazil recorded 3,921,271 probable cases of dengue and 1,888 deaths from the disease this year alone. Both the number of probable infections and deaths are the highest since 2000, according to the Ministry of Health's historical series.
Another 2,218 deaths are under investigation, to find out whether there is a relationship with arbovirus, according to data released by the Arbovirus Monitoring panel this Friday (24).
The fatality rate in probable cases remains at 0.05 when analyzed in relation to last Friday (19). For bass, this parameter increased by 0.15, standing at 4.50.
The percentage of people possibly infected, among men and women, is 44.9% and 55.1%, respectively. Furthermore, the age group most affected by the disease is 20 to 29 years old, with women being the most affected, with 394,117.
Regarding the incidence coefficient, for every 100 thousand inhabitants, this number is 1,931.1. The World Health Organization (WHO) considers it an epidemic when this index is greater than 300.
Across the country, the state with the most probable cases is Minas Gerais, with 1,190,280. Next comes São Paulo, with 945,576, and Paraná, with 396,367.
