Brazil recorded 299 deaths from dengue and 1,253,919 probable cases of the disease in 2024, according to data released in the Ministry of Health's Arbovirus Panel, this Tuesday (5).
Furthermore, the country has 765 deaths under investigation, that is, whether there is a relationship with the virus. This number may vary during the days once the analyzes are carried out.
Regarding the incidence rate of the disease per 100 thousand inhabitants, the number is 617.5. Among both women and men, the most affected age group is 30 to 39 years old, with 134,314 and 109,581 cases, respectively.
According to the ministry, the percentage of people possibly infected is around 55.5% for women, while for men it is 44.5%.
Based on historical dengue trends in the country, the peak of arbovirus epidemics usually occurs between the months of March and April, going against the current situation.
Among the states with the highest number of cases, Minas Gerais leads with 424,179 records. In sequence, São Paulo (225,000), Federal District (118,895), Paraná (123,288), Rio de Janeiro (95,700), Goiás (72,222) and Espírito Santo (46,229) stand out.
Today, the state of São Paulo declared a public health emergency for dengue following a recommendation from the Emergency Operations Center (COE). The measure comes as the territory reached 300 confirmed cases of the virus per 100,000 inhabitants this Monday (4). 201 municipalities across Brazil are in this emergency situation.
