Bolsonaro says he will show Biden “what Brazil is”

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Wednesday (8) that he intends to show Joe Biden “what Brazil is” during the Summit of the Americas, in the United States.

The meeting between the heads of state is scheduled for Thursday (9). Today, the American president arrived at the summit. Bolsonaro embarks on Wednesday night.

At an event with businessmen in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian president said he considered the possibility of not attending the event.

“I think everyone knows what is happening in Brazil. Tonight I take off for the United States. Well accompanied, with the first lady, a rare thing for her to travel with me. I wouldn’t even go to the Summit of the Americas. I would not appear in photography. A dialogue was then held with Mr. Joe Biden’s advisor. A bilateral meeting was agreed, for as long as necessary. And we are going to talk to him, showing him what Brazil is all about.”

On Tuesday, in an interview with SBT, Bolsonaro again raised suspicions about fraud in the 2020 American elections, saying that Donald Trump may have won the election.

During Tuesday’s event, the president said he could talk to Joe Biden about meeting Vladimir Putin in February, days before Russia invaded Ukraine.

According to Bolsonaro, if Biden asks questions about the episode, he will answer “whatever he can”.

“We are going to talk about food security. The world can no longer live without Brazil. Unless starving. ‘Oh, and if they ask any questions about my going to Russia’. Of course, whatever I can say, I’ll say. What I can’t, I won’t say. Just as I don’t have an off-season for the press, I don’t have an off-season with any head of state outside Brazil. But, more importantly, 26 fertilizer ships docked, and we guarantee our planting until, at least, the first quarter of next year.

We opted for the position of balance, we don’t want war. And we know our potential and the potential of others.”
